Collaborative Efforts Advanced for Responsible Tourism in Mt. Pinatubo

The Department of Tourism (DOT) Region III, together with key partners from regional and local government offices, convened an inter-agency consultation meeting aimed at reinforcing inclusive tourism initiatives in the Mt. Pinatubo area.

The meeting brought together the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples Region III, tourism officers from the municipalities of Capas and Botolan, and representatives from the provincial governments of Tarlac and Zambales. Also in attendance were Botolan Mayor Jun Omar Ebdane, Regional Director of the Commission on Human Rights Region III, Atty. Leorae D. Valmonte, along with representatives from the Department of the Interior and Local Government Region III, Philippine National Police (Zambales Provincial Office, Capas, and Botolan), the Armed Forces of the Philippines 7th Infantry Battalion, and Colonel Ernesto Ravina Air Base – Philippine Air Force.

DOT Region III took part in collectively renewing its commitment to advancing sustainable tourism that respects the rights of Indigenous Peoples and protects the environment and local communities. The inter-agency consultation underscores the collective dedication to the unified efforts of government institutions in fostering responsible, inclusive, and sustainable tourism development in Mt. Pinatubo, ensuring that both nature and local communities continue to thrive.
