BATAAN HOSTS REGION III’S FIRST HISTURISMO: HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT TRAINING

The Provincial Tourism Office, through the Department of Tourism (DOT), successfully concluded Histurismo: Historical Development Training for tourism stakeholders on December 15–17, 2025, held at the Bataan Tourism Pavilion.
A total of 25 participants, composed of local tourism officers from various municipalities, members of the academe, and local guides from the Bataan Peninsula Tour Guide, actively took part in the three-day training. The sessions were led by DOT Resource Speaker Mr. Billy Ray Malacura, who guided participants through a specialized module designed to assess both established and emerging historical and cultural sites and develop them to their full potential as tourism products.
The training module consisted of two days of lectures and one day of an ocular visit to noted historical and symbolic sites in the province. The field visits included the Mount Samat National Shrine in Pilar and the Surrender Site near the World War II Museum in the City of Balanga. This learning activity was conducted as part of the preparations for the commemoration of Araw ng Kagitingan 2026.
Notably, Bataan is the very first province in Region III (Central Luzon) to experience and host the Histurismo: Historical Development Training, highlighting the province’s leadership and strong commitment to strengthening heritage-based tourism development in the region.
